Knitted

For a party at The Crocodile I decided to go with a bit of a hobo chic--not to be confused with boho chic--look. I layered a long knit top over a strapless knit dress and finished it off with my Tory Burch gold booties and a gold 2ETN necklace. The fact that they were both stripes and the same sort of knit made it a funky look without being too crazy. In a venue like the Crocodile, the ensemble was perfect for going out but still not being formal.

Where My Dawts At?

It is a chilly but warm Seattle day. Shorts and a shirt are good but spring colors perhaps a bit unnecessary. Going to a press preview at the Henry I thought it would be fun to mix my polka dot shirt and shorts for a funky ensemble. Paired with my leather booties--which, wow I have been wearing a lot--and some pink ray-bans my look was complete.

Actually, I Don't Hate Carnations

I was going to a party for the Henry Art Gallery at a brewery in the trendy Ballard area of Seattle so I thought might as well go with a style that stands out. So I braided my hair and stuck fresh red carnations in it. Paired with a bold lip and a more simple outfit of Pilcro jeans and a Ralph Lauren black top, the look was ready to go.

Gas works, utilities

My friend Claire and I went down to the waterfront of Gas Works Park, a converted factory to admire all the boats out on Lake Union. A utility kilt seems to be a favorite feature of many Seattleite wardrobes. Although I am not wearing a utility kilt, it is still a kilt inspired skirt that I recently purchased at the new Savvy department at Nordstrom. Paired with a soft and simple jcrew sweater and a silver necklace, this was the perfect look for a slightly cooler spring day.

1920s Flair

Last night I went to Vito's--a dark, straight from the 70s bar--for a poetry and songwriter event. After seeing the Great Gatsby, I was inspired to add heaps of pearls onto my black dress. To not go too costume-y I slicked back the hair and added some clunky black leather booties.

A Formal Affaire

What did I tell you? 'tis the season for proms!
This time, I went with something a bit more innocent and subtle.  However, similar to my last post, this dress is also vintage.  Unfortunately, I had a bit of a hair meltdown and ended up resorting to a sock bun despite the fact that I think that look is getting a bit tired.  Overall, I felt like a princess in this off-white tea-length dress that I picked up at a flea market for $25!

Anything more cliche than prom pics by the pool?

Badgley Mischka sparkly heels!

The dress came with a matching shrug.

An antique bracelet, my favorite ring, and some sea foam nail polish to pull the look together.

Winning the Gold

I went to the Olympic Sculpture Park last night to witness the beautiful sunset over the Olympic Mountains. It was a lovely spring day and I was able to bust out a great white, Mexican inspired dress. A gold necklace and gold booties gave it the perfect pop of fun.
