Getting Formal

My bestfriend and I coincidentally both wore red.

High Schoolers in gowns and tuxes? Must be PROM season!  At the risk of looking like Minnie Mouse, I opted for a full-length polka-dotted, open-back dress.  Fitting since this season's runways seem to be filled with bold spots, dots, and stripes!

Open-backs are always glamorous
Call me crazy, but I've never been a fan of the blinged-out prom girl type dresses.  I was especially drawn to this gown because it was youthful and fun while still looking somewhat mature.  The dress itself is vintage which was another plus because I didn't have to worry about anyone else having the same one (a common fear of any high school girl)!

My very tall, very handsome date!
As far as hair and makeup goes, I wanted to keep it fairly serious and sleek to avoid looking too costumey.  In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a tight ponytail to keep a look clean.  I know it's a bit much but I couldn't resist throwing on a pair of fake lashes. . . after all, I have been raised in the Kardashian era!

I kept things clean and simple for accessories as well.  Just a pair of Swarovski crystal earrings and silver cuff to complete the look.

Being the shoe whore that I am, I wore a pair of Dolce and Gabbana sequined heels.  Despite the fact that I am about 5'11," my date was tall enough to handle me in a pair of six-inch heels.  Gotta love those tall boys. . . lucky me!
