Studying Makes Me Want To Kill Myself

The title of this post might be a tad bit dramatic, but it's finals week so I can be as crazy dramatic as I want.  Last night while "studying" I painted my nails.  Been growing them out lately, and going into finals week I wanted to look battle-ready fierce.  So red was a must.  Used NARS Soup Can from the Andy Warhol colors.

A Flea Market Find for a Music Competition

Playing with my puppy
Once a year, I am forced to play my viola at the Golden Empire Music Competition for a judge to critique me.  To say the least, this experience is not something I look forward to.  However, I would never pass up an opportunity to dress up!

Love the gold and silver metal detailing on this dress

The best pair of shoes I've ever found at a thrift shop...Prada!

Occasions like these call for a certain look.  The judges tend to be rather old fashioned about appearance so it's best to steer clear of anything short, tight, or flashy.  Luckily, last weekend while I was at a flea market with my mom, this little cream dress caught my eye (I'm a sucker for anything pleated).  I threw the dress on over what I was wearing just to make sure it fit okay and asked the woman selling it how much she wanted for it.  "Mmm...twenty dollars" she said.  What a steal!

Of course I had to ask Anna which shoes she thought I should wear, so after some texting and a few picture messages, we both agreed on my Pradas.  These fierce yet simple heels were exactly what I needed to give me that extra confidence boost.  Similarly to the dress, I picked these shoes up at a thrift store in San Francisco.  Although the price on them couldn't compete with my twenty-dollar dress, they were still cheap for having never been worn.

Sequins & Heels at the Seattle Art Museum

The SAM throws quarterly parties for its new exhibit.  This past Friday, I went to my very first one.  Not knowing what to expect I kept the color pallet relatively low-key but went for sparkle and heels so I would not blend in too much.  The heels are cork snakeskin Stella McCartney platforms, which juxtapose "funkily" with the sequins, if I do say so myself.  A high wrapped half-up/half-down ponytail added that extra sportiness that I dig.

P.S.  The dress was only $14 dollars at Nordstrom Rack, and it has pockets.  Score.

Embracing the Trend in San Francisco

A Friday off of school found a couple of friends and I day tripping to San Francisco for a little food, fun, and of course, shopping!  After scoring some amazing deals, we grabbed lunch from La Boulange on Union Street and headed over to the AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park to eat.

Although my sister and I are usually hesitant to jump on trends too quickly, I've decided to hop on board with army print by buying myself a pair of Paige's jeans. I paired these cropped pants with a gray sweater (stolen from Anna's closet...sorry!), penny loafers, and the Chanel purse that Anna and I share.

Before heading out, we stopped off at Crissy Field to soak up some sun.  I clipped my keys--fox tail and all--to a belt loop and threw my hair back.  Mmm nothing like a day in the city!

Capitol Hill Patriot

A jean jacket and white blouse is a combination that never fails--good for day or night!  Add a little bling to the mix and its even better.  Pairing the jeans, blouse and gaudy rhinestone necklacewith red Joe jeans seemed like the perfect pop of color...and what do you know, suddenly a red, white and blue outfit emerged.  This look is in no way themed, but it does play off the American Flag ensembles that have been trending hardcore for the last year.

Joe Jeans, Levi's Jacket (purchased at Costco..oh my!) Tory Burch Booties
Bling courtesy of my dad.  At first I thought it was a lame stocking stuffer.
After a night dining at mexican restaurant Poquitos, in Capitol Hill, I was full and content with my outfit choices.  Sigh.
